Overview

Label and packaging design for Hill Herbs' herbal product line spanning essential oils, food & wellness products, and utility items. This comprehensive packaging system required creating cohesive brand identity across diverse product categories while maintaining regulatory compliance and production-ready specifications for each package format.

The Challenge

Create cohesive packaging system across diverse product categories (essential oils, tea, honey, wellness products) while maintaining brand consistency and regulatory compliance. Each product category has different packaging requirements — bottles for oils, pouches for tea, jars for honey — and different regulatory text requirements based on product type.

Additional challenges included balancing natural/herbal brand aesthetic with clear information hierarchy, ensuring label designs work across multiple package shapes and sizes, incorporating required regulatory information (ingredients, usage instructions, certifications) without cluttering design, delivering print-ready files with proper bleed, safe zones, and color profiles, and creating realistic product mockups for client approval before production.

The Solution

Designed brand-aligned layouts with regulatory text, nutritional info, and barcode placement, delivered print-ready for production. Created realistic product mockups for client approval and marketing use. The design system uses consistent brand elements — color palette, typography, botanical illustrations, logo placement — while adapting layout structure to each product category's specific needs.

Essential Oils: Minimalist bottle labels emphasizing purity and natural ingredients. Clear product name hierarchy for shelf recognition. Usage instructions and safety warnings prominently placed.

Food & Wellness Products: Pouch and jar labels with nutritional information, ingredient lists, and preparation instructions. Appetite-appealing imagery for food products while maintaining herbal brand identity.

Wellness/Utility Products: Problem-solution messaging (e.g., migraine relief oil) with benefit-focused copy. Trust-building elements like certifications and natural ingredient callouts.

All designs delivered with die-cut templates, CMYK color specifications, and multiple mockup views for production and marketing teams.

Outcome

Print-ready packaging delivered for production across multiple product categories. This project demonstrates ability to design cohesive multi-SKU product systems with production constraints — not just concept designs, but files ready for commercial printing with proper specifications for different package formats (bottles, pouches, jars).

Shows understanding of packaging design requirements beyond visual appeal: regulatory compliance, production specifications, shelf presence, and information hierarchy. The system approach — rather than designing each product in isolation — creates stronger brand recognition and makes it easier for the client to expand product line in the future while maintaining consistency.
